United Way announced its Community Kickoff event has been postponed to Monday, Sept. 18 from 2:30–4:30 p.m. due to the extreme heat conditions forecast for the originally scheduled date of Aug. 23.
The kickoff event will take place at Breese Stevens Field and include an afternoon of family-friendly volunteer activities as well as a chance to sample all United Way has to offer at the Explore United Carnival. Attendees can receive a free United Way volunteer T-shirt, participate in games and activities for prizes, enjoy treats, learn about the community and involvement opportunities, and create Paper Product ImPacks to be distributed to local families through United Way’s nonprofit partners.
Registration is available online; there is no need to re-register for the new event date.
