According to the state Department of Workforce Development, Wisconsin’s unemployment rate increased slightly in December but was still lower than December 2014’s figure.

The latest preliminary monthly estimates show December unemployment was 4.3%, compared with 4.2% in November. One year earlier the state’s unemployment rate stood at 5.2%.

State estimates indicate there were 7,000 more workers in the state during December than in November. However, there were also 3,400 more people classified as unemployed during the month.
