Unemployment drops in 67 of 72 counties

April unemployment figures improved in 67 of the state’s 72 counties, according to the Department of Workforce Development. Only Calumet, Menominee, and Price counties saw unemployment increase. Dane County had the lowest unemployment rate, at 4.9%, down from 5.1% in March, while Menominee County recorded the highest at 15.6%, an increase of more than a full percentage point from March’s 14.7%. The county numbers are not seasonally adjusted. Statewide, the unemployment rate remained at 7.1%.
