Between August and September, unemployment rates dropped or stayed the same in 71 of Wisconsin’s 72 counties, according to the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development and U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
September unemployment ranged from 2.7% in Dane County to 7.6% in Menominee County. Monroe County was the only one in the state to report an increase, from 3.7% to 4%.
Across all 12 metropolitan areas tracked jobless rates also declined from August to September. Metro Madison saw the smallest rates at 2.7%, while metro Racine saw the largest at 4.6%.
