The Commerce Department reported that the country’s trade deficit increased in July after falling to a four-year low in June. The trade gap rose 13% to $39.1 billion in July, up from June’s deficit of $34.5 billion, the smallest since 2009. American consumers bought more foreign and imported goods — from cars to oil — while the U.S. exported fewer manufactured goods like aircraft and industrial engines.
