Various U.S. stocks are nearing records on Friday after inflation came in with a lower effect than anticipated, the Associated Press reported.
The S&P 500 rose 0.8%, on track to top its record set earlier this month. The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 267 points, or 0.6%, and is also heading for its own record. The Nasdaq composite was up 1%, as of 8:35 a.m. Central time.
Inflation data could mean lower prices for goods and services, and for Wall Street, it could mean lower interest rates from the Federal Reserve to boost a slow job market. The Federal Reserve cut its main interest rate once so far this year.
