In April, employers in the U.S. added just 266,000 jobs, much lower than in March, according to a report from the Associated Press. The new numbers may be an indication that some businesses are struggling to find enough workers as businesses try to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. Unemployment crept up to 6.1% from 6% in March as viral cases declined and more states began reopening. Temporary work was among the industries experiencing the sharpest drop in April with a loss of 111,000 jobs. Construction companies added no jobs in April after having added 97,000 in March. Manufacturing lost 18,000 positions after hiring 54,000 the previous month. As expected, restaurants, hotels, and entertainment venues added 331,000 jobs in April, an increase from 206,000 in March.
