The U.S. Labor Department has reported that 252,000 jobs were added nationwide in December, lowering the unemployment rate to 5.6%. The news is in stark contrast to what’s happening throughout much of the rest of the world, where many economies are struggling.
The U.S. economy created 3 million jobs from January to December, the most in a calendar year since 1999.
The Labor Department also revised upward the total number of jobs created in October and November by 50,000.
