To build interest in teacher education programs, the University of Wisconsin–Madison’s School of Education has created a program to financially support 1,500 students to study and work as teachers in the state over the next five years, according to a story from TheCapital Times.
The Teacher Pledge Program will offer financial aid equivalent to in-state tuition and certification fees to students to commit to teaching three to four years at the pre-kindergarten through grade 12 level in Wisconsin. In addition, the program may also provide additional support for books and living expenses to students with greater need. The program is entirely funded through $18 million from private donors.
