President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Friday to pay Transportation Security Administration workers after a bill compromise could not be made to pay the workers, CNBC reported.
“America’s air travel system has reached its breaking point,” Trump said in the memo authorizing the payments. “I have determined that these circumstances constitute an emergency situation compromising the nation’s security.”
He did not specify where the funds would come from to pay the workers. TSA workers should begin being paid on Monday.
The partial government shutdown has now reached day 45.
