No federal food aid will be distributed on Nov. 1 to families facing food insecurity, according to an Associated Press report.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture posted a notice on its website about the aid, and the lack of funding is due to a federal government shutdown that continues in a stalemate.
The Trump administration could tap into a contingency fund to keep federal funding going for SNAP, known as FoodShare in Wisconsin, but decided not to.
SNAP is used by 1 in 8 Americans, and 700,000 Wisconsinites rely on the program.
The federal shutdown began on Oct. 1 and is now the second-longest shutdown in U.S. history.
