The Associated Press reports President Donald Trump’s administration is freezing child care funds to Minnesota due to fraud schemes involving government programs.

The administration is also demanding an audit of some day care centers.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz said on social media that fraud has been an issue the state has cracked down on but called the move a political one.

“He’s politicizing the issue to defund programs that help Minnesotans,” Walz said on social media.

The move comes from a right-leaning influencer who posted a video on Friday claiming that Somali-run day care centers in Minneapolis had committed up to $100 million in fraud.
