After voting against several Congressional resolutions to end the war with Iran, Congressman Tom Tiffany, the Republican nominee for governor, is now calling on President Trump to end the war, according to a report in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
The ongoing conflict, which is raising the cost of gasoline and diesel fuel, is increasingly unpopular with the American public and it has become the key issue in this fall’s mid-term elections.
Tiffany, who trails Democratic opponent David Crowley in the race for governor, told reporters at this week’s Wisconsin Counties Association annual conference that he opposed past legislation to end the war because “the president has that authority.”
“I’ve been saying for months that it’s time to wrap things up in Iran,” Tiffany said. “I mean, they’ve largely been degraded militarily and (with) their nuclear capability, and it’s time for us to come back home and make sure that we take care of things here in Wisconsin.”
