The Associated Press reported on a two-week strike at Swift Beef Co., a meatpacking plant in Greeley, Colo., northeast of Denver.

According to the report, thousands of workers began the strike on Monday. The company is owned by JBS USA and the strike represents the first at a U.S. slaughterhouse in 40 years.

Union officials say the company has retaliated against workers, features unfair labor practices and only increases wages less than 2% annually.

The report also said 99% of the plant’s 3,800 unionized workers voted to strike.
