The Federal Reserve plans to keep rates near zero even after inflation has exceeded its 2% target level, a significant change to the Fed’s previous approach, according to a report from the Associated Press.

By tolerating a higher level of inflation before raising interest rates, borrowing rates for households and businesses will likely remain ultra low for years to come.
