Construction of the Center for Black Excellence and Culture is set to be completed in December, and the organization is now focusing on its inaugural programs and events, with a goal of $300,000 by Dec. 31 to support the programs.

A $175,000 matching gift from Peter Tropman, Virginia Graves, Duncan Highsmith and Ana Araújo will match each dollar donated up to $175,000.

“As exciting as our building is, we know it’s the programs, people and partnerships that will drive our mission to nurture a thriving Black community,” Center CEO and founder Rev. Alex Gee said in a statement.
