Dane County’s partnership with Tellurian Behavioral Health’s detox program will be extended by three months after it was set to close at the end of the year, according to a WKOW report.

On Thursday night, the Dane County Personnel and Finance Committee voted to pass an amendment to extend funding for Tellurian’s services by three months.

Tellurian reported losing over $750,000 last year running the detox unit.

Kevin Florek, Tellurian’s CEO, said the organization is again projecting an over $500,000 loss this year despite reduced staffing.

Tellurian not only offers detox services but hosts AA meetings, and having the detox center allows for police to drop off people in need instead of waiting at a hospital, while also favoring rehabilitation over incarceration.
