Telephone and Data Systems to acquire Baja Broadband

Telephone and Data Systems, the parent company of Madison-based TDS Telecommunications, will acquire the assets of New Mexico-based Baja Broadband, LLC, for $267.5 million. Telephone and Data Systems agreed to purchase the video, high-speed Internet, and voice-service company, which operates primarily in the southwestern part of the country. Baja has about 285 employees and 212,000 customers, and generated $82.4 million in revenue in 2011. TDS Telecommunications has about 1 million customer connections and employs about 2,900 across 32 states.
