The Wisconsin Technology Council will host an Innovation Luncheon on May 20 centered on filling Wisconsin’s expected energy gap. Despite solid conservation efforts, energy use is almost certain to rise as coal-powered plants continue to close — and especially as Wisconsin becomes a home for more data centers.
Invited panelists will discuss this topic at the event, which will be held at One City Schools, 1707 W. Broadway. Registration and networking will begin at 11:30 a.m., followed by lunch at noon and the presentation at 12:30 p.m.
Panelists are Robb Hughes, head of external affairs for Realta Fusion; Meleesa Johnson, executive director of Wisconsin’s Green Fire; Kevin Nordt, executive vice president and chief strategy officer for Dairyland Power Cooperative; and Todd Stuart, executive director of the Wisconsin Industrial Energy Group. They will examine the viability of a mix of energy sources, some readily available today and others on the horizon, which include natural gas-fired power plants, solar and wind energy, next-generation nuclear fission plants and nuclear fusion.
