Madison-headquartered TDS Telecommunications LLC and the city of Janesville have signed a memorandum of understanding agreement, greenlighting the company’s plans to build an all-fiber network across the community, according to a release from TDS. Construction on the network is expected to begin in June. When completed, it will connect about 30,000 Janesville addresses to high-speed 2Gig internet, plus TV and phone services. Fiber networks are believed to provide the best performance and reliability of all internet technologies, but only 43% of U.S. households have access to a fiber connection, according to a Fiber Broadband Association report.
