After purchasing New Mexico-based Baja Broadband last summer, TDS Telecom is in acquisition mode again. The Madison-based telecommunications company will purchase BendBroadband, a family-owned telecommunications company in Bend, Ore., with 280 employees serving about 79,000 homes and businesses. Both acquisitions are part of TDS’s plan to expand its broadband reach (voice, Internet, and video) as well as its data center services. The $261 million BendBroadband acquisition brings the number of TDS data centers to nine.

Pending necessary approvals, the deal could be finalized later this summer.

BendBroadband also owns two commercial television stations and a community service TV channel. The company’s 2013 revenues were reported at $70 million.

TDS Telecom is a subsidiary of Telephone and Data Systems of Chicago.
