The Business Forum (TBF) is offering an Active Shooter Training event on Friday, Sept. 20 from 11 a.m.–1 p.m. at M3 Insurance, 828 John Nolen Drive in Madison.

This brown-bag instructional workshop will be led by Madison Police veteran officer Rick Bruess — a member of the SWAT team and MPD’s Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events efforts, and an instructor at MPD’s pre-service academy, where he teaches about firearms, tactics, professional communications, and OWI enforcement. Bruess will equip attendees with the knowledge to navigate an active shooter scenario. Attendees will learn the “avoid, deny, defend” strategy, how to confront armed threats safely, and how to understand and manage bodily stress responses, as well as experience realistic simulations.

Attendees are advised that case studies will include sensitive historical events.
