A bipartisan task force has examined looming retirement savings problems in the state and is recommending a series of steps to improve conditions for retirees, according to a report from the Wisconsin State Journal. The group’s recommendations are focused on helping younger people avoid having a shortfall by the time they retire decades from now, and legislative bills to implement the measures could be introduced for consideration in the coming months.
The task force projects that more than 400,000 senior citizens in Wisconsin will be living in poverty by 2030 and this would result in an additional $3.5 billion on public assistance programs.
