Last week, a Kwik Trip on East Washington Avenue across from Visions Night Club announced plans to close earlier due to increased crime in the area. Then this past weekend, Green Cab Co. temporarily suspended services following a string of robberies of its cab drivers. The company has since reopened, but with a reduced schedule while weekend hours are still being discussed, according to a Wisconsin State Journalreport.

Meanwhile, the city of Madison on Monday suspended its ordinance requiring cab companies to operate 24/7 following the armed robberies of cab drivers over the weekend. Madison Mayor Paul Soglin said until police can make arrests, the ordinance will not be enforced.
