The union for Madison teachers, Madison Teachers Inc. (MTI), has filed a complaint with the state employment relations commission over a Madison Metropolitan School District survey addressing budget cuts, according to a Capital Timesreport.
In the prohibited practice complaint filed with the Wisconsin Employment Relations Commission, MTI alleges one of the questions violates state law, which forbids the district from bargaining over base wages with anyone other than MTI’s chosen bargaining teams. The question asks how staff would prefer the district deal with an anticipated $5 million to $9 million in additional budget cuts for the 2020–21 school year.
