The Wisconsin State Journal reports that the Sun Prairie Historical Library and Museum has stopped accepting items for its collection as it awaits the results of a city funding referendum.
Voters will make a decision in April on approving a $3.95 million referendum to continue providing city services.
Its passage would allow Sun Prairie to permanently increase the property tax levy.
According to the Wisconsin State Journal, museum leaders expect to be on the cutting block if the referendum does not pass, so that the city can balance the budget.
Earlier this year, city residents noted on a survey that the museum was less of a priority to fund than police and fire protection.
