This summer, Sun Prairie Food Pantry has experienced a decrease in donations and an increase in demand, with more mouths to feed, NBC15 reports. The organization serves an average of between 50–60 families per day, more than doubling last year’s numbers, and is open six days per week.

With still-high inflation rates and the dissipation of pandemic-era benefits on which many families were reliant, food insecurity is on the rise for many Dane County families.

The pantry not only supplies necessities such as bread, milk, and eggs, but also acknowledges birthdays and other important milestones.

The organization is currently seeking monetary gifts, food donations, and volunteers. Additional information is available online.
