Sun Prairie East High School principal Renee Coleman has departed less than halfway through the school year, according to the Wisconsin State Journal. An email sent on Wednesday to school families from superintendent Brad Saron, assistant superintendent for teaching, learning, and equity Stephanie Leonard, and assistant superintendent for operations Nick Reichhoff, said the search for Coleman’s replacement is set to begin early next year.

The email said that Coleman, who has been principal since the beginning of the 2021–22 school year, is no longer in the role but did not cite a reason for the change. It also said associate athletic director Jim Ertel will serve as interim principal for the rest of the year. Ertel began his career as a social studies teacher at Sun Prairie High School in 2010, transitioning to the dean of students role in 2016. He is in his third year of serving in athletics and activities.
