A $13 million mixed use-redevelopment plan from Forward Management is in the works for Sun Prairie’s Main Street, boosted by the City Council’s approval of $2.5 million in tax incremental financing.

The “McHenry Apartments” would be built on the former site of a Pamida and Heckel’s Marine store at 1120 W. Main St.

Plans call for 5,000 square feet of retail space and 74 apartments, 37 of which would be reserved for individuals or families at 60% of Dane County’s median household income (about $54,000).

If approved by Sun Prairie’s Plan Commission, work could begin this spring and open in July 2018 according to the Wisconsin State Journal.
