Thirty-six jobs in Sun Prairie will be impacted when a biotechnology plant owned by Thermo Fisher Scientific closes by February of 2014, a company spokesman says. The plant, which Thermo Fisher acquired in 2011 from Trek Diagnostic Systems, makes and services products used in blood culture testing.

The jobs will be shifted to Thermo Fisher plants in Madison and Lenexa, Kan., but it’s not yet known how many of the affected workers will be transferred to those facilities, company spokesman Ronald O’Brien told the Wisconsin State Journal.
