Madison-based Summit Credit Union announced the completion of its purchase of West Bend-headquartered Commerce State Bank. The acquisition is the largest credit union acquisition of a bank in Wisconsin’s history and one of the largest in the country. The acquisition, Summit’s first purchase of a bank, increases its membership to more than 235,000 members. The merger of business operations will be completed in 2023, and customers of Commerce State Bank will immediately become members of Summit Credit Union. Summit’s company assets are now over $6 billion with 54 locations.
