Oreo Zero Sugar and Oreo Double Stuf Zero Sugar will be available in the U.S. beginning in January, and will be a permanent addition to the Oreo lineup, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.
The Oreos, which are already sold in Europe and China, are a part of brand initiatives to offer healthier snacks to consumers.
Market research company Circana conducted research earlier this year that found that a majority of Americans want snacks that are “good for them.” Slim Jim producer Conagra Brands’ recent snack report showed that millennials and generation Z consumers are looking for wellness-focused snacks, specifically items that are protein-forward, portion-controlled and nutrient-dense.
According to Conagra’s report, the snacking industry is worth about $150 billion.
