Sub-Zero Group plans to upgrade one of its Fitchburg plants over the next three years with a $62 million addition.

The manufacturer of Sub-Zero and Wolf kitchen appliances, Sub-Zero also plans to hire 300 new employees during that time, as it begins building new dishwashers and expanding production of ranges locally.

The Fitchburg expansion won out over a proposed Kentucky location.

Thirty-three acres will be purchased to expand Sub-Zero’s Fitchburg campus to 99 acres. The existing Wolf factory will add 400,000 square feet to more than double its size to 755,000 square feet. At least $5 million in state and local incentives is included in the deal. The project, helmed by Ideal Builders, is expected to be completed in fall 2016.
