In what is being called an orderly shutdown of Angel Lithographing Co., the Sturtevant-based printer is being absorbed into Burton & Mayer, a larger printing operation located in Menomonee Falls, according to a report in the Racine Journal Times.
Angel Lithographing, a general-purpose printer founded in 1947, had been looking for a merger partner. The company has informed its employees that manufacturing at its 90th Street facility soon will shift to Menomonee Falls.
Angel has about $3 million in annual sales and 15 employees, while Burton & Mayer reports  $13 million in annual sales and has 75 employees.
Burton & Mayer Co-owner and President Tim Burton said the company would like to interview all Angel employees, but not everyone will be invited to join the larger company.
Angel co-owners Bill and Dick Angel will become salesmen for Burton & Mayer.
Dick Angel said Burton & Mayer has digital capabilities that Angel could not afford to acquire, and noted the two union companies have a similar corporate culture.
