Residential real estate in the Badger State saw its best year in a decade, as home sales and prices increased in Wisconsin in 2015.
The latest data from the Wisconsin Realtors Association indicates closings on existing homes climbed 11.4% last year, while the median price of homes sold in the state increased more than 5%.
According to the WRA, 2015’s 76,693 homes sold bested the 68,857 mark posted in 2014, and was just shy of the 78,125 sold in the pre-recession year of 2005.
The median price of Wisconsin homes also rose to $155,500 from $148,000 a year earlier.
The south central region of the state, which includes Dane County, saw the biggest boost in median price, rising by 6.7% to $184,000 from $172,500.
