Economists and business executives say a rebound in U.S. manufacturing could be undermined by a strengthening U.S. dollar, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal. They worry that the dollar’s growing value relative to the euro, the Japanese yen, the British pound, and other currencies will make foreign-made goods cheaper to import and make exports of U.S.-made goods more expensive for foreign buyers.
