Universal Acoustic & Emission Technologies in Stoughton has been purchased by North Carolina-based Babcock & Wilcox Enterprises Inc.
The new owner says the Wisconsin offices will remain open, although some office jobs may be lost. Its name will change to Babcock & Wilcox Universal [trade name: B&W Universal] and it will operate as part of B&W MEGTEC in De Pere.
Babcock & Wilcox provides energy and environmental technology and services for energy and industrial customers, according to a report in the Wisconsin State Journal.
UniversalAET employs about 275 people in Wisconsin at offices in Stoughton, Muscoda, and Beloit. In total, the company employs about 460 throughout the U.S. and Mexico. Terms were undisclosed.
