Stock market looks to recoup last week’s losses

Wall Street opened with gains today, the Associated Press reports, with futures for the S&P 500 0.3% higher and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average edging up 0.1%.

On Friday, the S&P 500 closed its first losing week in the last three and its worst since April. The Dow Jones Industrial Average and Nasdaq composite sank as well following a major outage that disrupted flights, banks, and medical providers around the world.

In other dealings early today, U.S. benchmark crude oil was unchanged at $78.64 per barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude, the international standard, added 7 cents to $82.70 per barrel.

The U.S. dollar fell to 156.64 Japanese yen from 157.49 yen.
