Early trading was mixed on Tuesday as markets seemed to shrug off new tariff deadlines for U.S. trading partners, according to the Associated Press. Futures for the S&P 500 were up 0.1% before the bell, while futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.1%. Nasdaq futures rose 0.2%.
Amazon shares ticked up less than 1% before Tuesday’s bell with the online retailer’s kickoff of Prime Day. Beginning this year, the membership sales event lasts four days. Amazon launched Prime Day in 2015 and expanded the event to two days in 2019.
U.S. crude oil dropped 17 cents to $67.76 per barrel. Brent crude, the international standard, lost six cents to $69.52.
