Former Trump adviser Steve Bannon was arrested on charges that he and three others ripped off donors to an online fundraising scheme, “We Build The Wall,” according to a report by the Associated Press.

Charges detailed in the unsealed indictment in Manhattan federal court state that Bannon and three others conducted an online crowdfunding campaign to defraud hundreds of thousands of donors, raising more than $25 million to build a wall along the southern border of the U.S. The fundraising appeal promised that 100% of donated money would be used for the project but instead the defendants allegedly used hundreds of thousands of dollars in ways inconsistent with this intent.

Defendants are accused of using fake invoices and sham “vendor” arrangements to hide their actual spending.
