State warns against COVID-19 scams

Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul is warning Wisconsinites to look out for potential scams and price gouging over the COVID-19 outbreak, according to a Wisconsin Department of Justice release.

Kaul suggests the following precautions be taken:

  • Beware of phishing emails, phone calls, and texts.
  • Beware of any claim of a vaccine or a cure for COVID-19.
  • Report possible scams to the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) at (800) 422-7128, or online at https://datcp.wi.gov.
  • Exercise caution when donating to a charity.
