Wisconsin startups generated $116 million in venture capital funding in 2017 according to a report from xconomy.com based on an analysis of PitchBook and NVCA data.
That figure represents a steep decline from the $223 million raised in 2016, and $228 million in 2015.
Madison area startups generated about two-thirds of the 2017 funding round activity with the largest deals raised Phoenix ($12 million); Redox ($10 million), and Fetch Rewards ($9.6 million).
Still, the total funding generated by Madison startups ($76.6 million) in 2017 was less than half of what was raised the year before.
