New nightclub and cocktail bar Cielo opens on Oct. 11 on State Street with a “coffee rave,” reports Madison Magazine.
Cielo is owned by the same proprietor of Sotto Night Club. The first floor offers two cocktail bars, while the second floor hosts a DJ and dance floor.
The new nightclub aims to be a comfortable space for a bite or drink and is located at the vacant site of Winedown, which closed in 2017 at 118 State St.
While Sotto is underground, dark and rife with bouncing neon lights, Cielo, which translates to “sky” in Spanish, will feature a star and sky theme, with high ceilings and skylights.
DJs are scheduled to play on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Cocktails are inspired by owner Susan McKinney’s time living in Mexico, highlighting flavors such as vanilla, citrus, espresso, warm spices and mezcal. Food will include charcuterie boards and more.
The coffee rave is Oct. 11 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The raves, containing fresh espresso, cocktails and DJs, are planned for every other Saturday.
