A 130-room hotel proposed for the top of State Street earned the approval of the Madison Urban Design Commission.

Previous concerns about the use of materials and the overall height have been worked through, although the developer, Ascendant Holdings Real Estate, must still get a zoning change to reach its full height, which is 19 feet above what is currently allowed, according to a Capital Timesstory.

The hotel design includes nine stories, with the top floor set back. Meetings with the Madison Plan Commission and City Council are scheduled in September.
