State Rep. Francesca Hong has joined the race for Wisconsin governor among several other Democrats vying for the role, the Wisconsin State Journal reports.
Hong, 36, has been in the Assembly since 2021 and was the first Asian American to be elected to the Legislature. She first ran for Assembly to fill a vacancy created by former Rep. Chris Taylor.
Hong joins several candidates on both sides of the aisle running to succeed Gov. Tony Evers at the end of his second term — in the first open race for Wisconsin’s executive office in 16 years.
