State receives $15 million federal grant for child care, early childhood education

Wisconsin has received a $15 million competitive grant from the U.S. Department of Labor that will go to the Department of Workforce Development. The grant will help bolster early childhood education, boost access, and improve the sustainability of quality, affordable child care for working families. According to a release from Gov. Tony Evers’ office, the grant will leverage partnerships among the Department of Children and Families (DCF), Wisconsin Community Action Program Association, Wisconsin’s 11 local Workforce Development Boards, and other strategic partners. Wisconsin residents face significant challenges in securing affordable child care to support their entry into, and retention in, the workforce.
