Between March and April, FoodShare added 83,600 recipients, which was the largest month-over-month increase since 2012, according to an analysis by the Wisconsin Policy Forum.

Before March, the state program to distribute federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits had seen years of declining numbers. Recipient numbers fell somewhat in July and rose again in August, despite a continued decline in unemployment.
