A proposed Wisconsin bill would create a fund for victims of gun violence by adding a tax to state gun purchases, according to WKOW. The bill, authored by Rep. Jimmy Anderson and Sen. Lena Taylor, would add a 0.5% tax to the manufacturer’s list price.
The lawmakers intend that money from the tax would go to a new fund through the state Department of Justice, which would then use the money to provide services to victims of crimes involving guns. Anderson and Taylor are currently seeking co-sponsors.
