State adds 6,500 manufacturing jobs during past year

Between July 2014 and July 2015, Wisconsin added 6,516 industrial jobs, an increase of 1.1% percent, according to the 2016 Wisconsin Manufacturers Register.

This marks four consecutive years that manufacturing employment has increased in Wisconsin.

The report shows Wisconsin now has 10,694 manufacturers employing 572,189 workers. Between July 2011 and July 2015, industrial jobs increased by 18,568, or 3.3%.

The state’s food processing sector led the way, growing 2.8% over the year. Most other Wisconsin manufacturing sectors gained jobs, as well, including textiles/apparel, up 5.7%; medical instruments/related products, up 3.4%; rubber/plastics, up 2.4%; printing/publishing, up 1.5%; and electronics, up 1.3%.
