Wisconsin had another off month for job growth, posting a loss of 300 private-sector jobs in June, according to the U.S. Bureau for Labor Statistics. That continued a trend that put the state firmly in the bottom half of the nation in job growth over the past year.
The June job loss was attributed, in part, to a downturn in the state’s construction industry, which lost a combined 6,300 jobs between April and June.
Wisconsin ranked 31st in the country with just a 1.49% change in job growth from June 2014 to June 2015, Bureau of Labor Statistics data shows.
Both Michigan and Minnesota had better years in terms of job growth rate, while Iowa and Illinois did worse.
